Where it came from
A two-panel Simpsons screenshot showing Mr. Burns looking at a workplace safety board that reads "[X] days without an accident", and it's always been reset to zero because of Lenny. Became a meme template around 2022.
Mr. Burns stares at a workplace sign reading "[X] days without [something happening]", and the number is always zero. You label the sign with whatever thing you can't go a single day without: a weird thought, a specific mistake, a recurring frustration. The joke is that you were never going to make it past zero anyway.
The workplace-safety framing gives the meme a very specific "tracking a problem that nobody can actually fix" flavor. It's not about failure exactly — it's about inevitability. Of course it's zero. What did we expect.
Still in active use. The format has really clean reusable structure.
