Doomer Girl
Where it came from
A female Wojak with black hair, tired eyes and a choker who appeared in early January 2020, mostly on Facebook and Twitter. The original artist is unknown, though a user's old selfies floating around beforehand may have been the accidental blueprint.
Doomer Girl is the existential-dread counterpart to the Doomer — same black-coffee-and-cigarettes energy, same 3am thoughts, but she actually shows up and talks to you. When she dropped in January 2020 she got adopted basically overnight, which is wild for a hand-drawn Wojak edit.
Part of why she spread so fast is that people immediately used her to dunk on the existing Doomer guy. He'd be spiraling about the collapse of society and she'd just go "wanna get coffee?" — and suddenly the whole bleak Doomer aesthetic looked a little silly. She became this weirdly hopeful character inside an aesthetic built on having no hope.
There was also a small turf war over her, because a recognizable, kind-of-cute female Wojac was rare and everyone wanted to claim the look. The internet briefly treated finding the real-life inspiration like a missing-persons case. Peak 2020 behavior.
