Feels Bad Man

Where it came from
Edited from Matt Furie's Boy's Club comic (2006). The sad-eyed Pepe variant started circulating on 4chan in 2009 as feelsbadman.jpg, usually paired with greentext about loneliness, breakups, and other regularly scheduled disappointments.
feelsbadman.jpg is the patron saint of "that didn't go great." Frowning Pepe, slumped shoulders, dead eyes — you slap it under any short story about your dating life and it does ninety percent of the comedic work for you.
It's the inverse of Feels Good Man, which is why the two basically need each other to exist. Got the job? Feels good man. Got ghosted by the recruiter three weeks later? You already know which frog to deploy.
The template still works because the emotion is timeless and the drawing is wonky in a way that lands harder than any photoreal sad reaction. Pepe got politically radioactive for a while, which thinned the herd, but Feels Bad Man specifically stuck around as a reaction image because the feeling never went out of style.
