Pedro Raccoon
Where it came from
A September 2023 TikTok from @fleksa30 showing Ginger, a pet raccoon. It went viral in late March 2024 once people set the clip to the EDM "Pedro" remix of Raffaella Carrà's 1980 song.
Corrected the three flagged issues only; origin, explanation prose, and view_count left untouched.
Fix 1 (primary, still_alive dishonesty): flipped "dying" to "dead" so the field matches the body, which states "nobody's making fresh Pedro edits in 2026" and "It had its month." Per the schema and the seed file's own rule ("a meme that nobody actually posts anymore is dead, not active"), a meme getting zero new edits that only resurfaces as a recognizable old song is dead, not fading. I matched the field to the prose rather than rewrite accurate body text.
Fix 2 (tag accuracy): swapped "reaction" for "format." The entry frames this as a dance break / transition you build into your own video, which is a transition template, not a reply image you post to react. Fix 3 (thin tagging): kept three precise tags — animal, surreal, format. I deliberately did not add "relatable": a spinning raccoon set to EDM is a performance/sound gag, not genuine "this is so me" content (the tag rules explicitly exclude "doing a noise on camera"). Padding with a misapplied tag would repeat the exact failure the editor flagged, so three honest tags beats four with one wrong.
