Puts On Sunglasses (YEEEEAAAHHH)
Where it came from
Born from CSI: Miami, where lieutenant Horatio Caine (David Caruso) would drop a groan-worthy one-liner at a crime scene, slide on his sunglasses, and cue The Who screaming "YEAAAAH" over the intro. A 2006 YouTube supercut of his one-liners turned the bit into a meme, and it never really left.
You know the format even if you don't know the show. Somebody sets up a situation, delivers an absolutely terrible pun about it, and then the punchline is just "*puts on sunglasses*" followed by a wall of "YEEEEAAAHHH." That "YEAAAH" is Roger Daltrey from The Who, and it hits every single time.
The whole joke is the confidence. Horatio says the dumbest possible thing with the energy of a man who thinks he just closed the case, and the sunglasses are the mic drop. The worse the pun, the better it lands. People still use it as a template for any lame observation they want to make sound cinematic.
It's old, it's corny, and that's exactly why it's immortal. Supernatural even did a whole bit parodying it. Any time you see "( •_•) ( •_•)>⌐■-■ (⌐■_■)" in a comment section, that's this meme wearing a text-face disguise.
