Son 😭😭😭😭😭

Where it came from
Started September 2025 when a Redditor posted a photo of Anthony Mackie smirking, crudely edited to make him look heavier, captioned "Son😭😭😭😭😭." It swallowed TikTok comment sections whole.
The whole thing is one word and five crying emojis. "Son😭😭😭😭😭." That's it. That's the meme. It's what you say when someone posts something so dumb, so cooked, so beyond saving that all you can do is call them your son and weep-laugh about it. It's "bruh" with more emotional damage.
The original is a mangled photo of Anthony Mackie edited to look chunkier, smirking like he already knows what you did. From there it mutated into everything — random public figures, cartoon characters, AI slop, all wearing that same "son, what are we doing here" face. The uglier the edit, the better it works.
It hit that sweet spot of being infinitely reusable and requiring zero effort, which is basically the recipe for a comment-section takeover. Also spawned Sonion, which is the Mackie face poking out of an onion. Don't ask.
