They're The Same Picture

Where it came from
A scene from the U.S. version of The Office where Pam holds up two identical printouts and says "Corporate needs you to find the differences between this picture and this picture". Then, after a pause: "They're the same picture." Became a meme in 2019.
Pam Beesly holds up two sheets of paper side by side. The caption is always "Corporate needs you to find the difference between [X] and [Y]" — where X and Y are two things that pretend to be different but are functionally identical. Beneath, Pam's deadpan follow-up: "They're the same picture."
The format is a cold slap for false dichotomies. Whatever two things the setup presents as opposites, the punchline reveals them to be identical. "Paying for groceries / Paying for rent." "Eastern European monarchies in 1890 / Modern corporate HR departments."
Still in heavy rotation. The Office's sustained popularity means it hasn't felt dated even six years after the meme blew up.
